Church for sale 2. Day 31

Church for sale 2

Squeak in the morning

Squeek in the morning
Originally uploaded by tsakshaug

Squeak (secondary cat) is my buddy in the morning. The other two cats, Jiff and Morgan (main cat and extra cat respectively) are usually still asleep. She gets some food and ear scratching and is happy to be the center of attention, as she is the shyest of the set. I think the reason she likes to be with me in the morning is that she gets a few licks of my cereal milk, and that is all her milk for the day. I like getting attention from one of the cats too, and this is the only time of day that happens, unless it is cold and they want to sit on my lap.

Here we are on a Sunday afternoon. No robotics to do, homework finished, everyone on their laptops, except me, as I do not have one. Sally is working on photos, the boys are (cooperatively!) playing WOW. Squeak and Morgan are napping, Jiff and I are in the other room doing something else. I could go in a disturb them with my mandolin playing, I would be napping watching the football game, but it did not start until 4.

Pecan Stuffed Chicken Breasts

We usually make several batches and freeze most of it. The packets come out and cook real easily. If doubled you will have more than enough stuffing for a few more breasts

Stuffing
1/2 Stick butter
1 stalk celery-chopped fine
1 minced onion
1/2 t salt 1/4 t pepper
cook these together until tender
Stir in
4 slices toast (2 Cu)
1 cup pecans chopped
2 t parsley flakes
1/4 Cu water
Mix all that together, remove from heat.

4 boneless chicken breasts- flattened to 1/8" or so
Place each breast on to a 12" square sheet of heavy foil
brush both sides with
Lemon Juice
Melted butter
Put some stuffing into the center of each breast, fold in half and roll it up in the foil.

These can then be frozen, we put two in a freezer bag for our dinners

To cook
Put in a baking pan, cook at 400 for 20 min. Open the foil, baste with drippings and cook open for 20 more min.

For some reason there are many churches for sale around here. Just never really thought about the concept before.
About a quarter mile down the road from this there is a sign announcing the future site of another church. Why not buy this one. But is has been the future site for many years

  • "I Need My Teachers To Learn was Written and Performed by Kevin Honeycutt and produced by Charlie Mahoney (who also played percussion, bass, and Piano). This has gone through many incarnations, but after hooking up some good mics and recording equipment, I think we have a keeper. This recording includes background vocals from the Turning Point Learning Center Choir, which is composed of our virtual and face-2-face students.

FIRST Kickoff 2010

Saturday was the big day, Kickoff for FIRST Robotics. This is the day we find out what the mission for our robot will be, and then we have six weeks to design and build it. I should not say we, but the team, Team 340. This year the game is called breakaway, which in effect is robotic socceer. It looks simple, but with so many variables, it will be a challenge. At least the scoring seems simple.
This is a great example of project based learning, as I wrote about last year. Watching the students think, develop ideas, test, work together is great, 3 meetings a week...it is worth it.

Set my reading glasses down yesterday, and saw the light. Thought it looked neat. You can tell it was not posed by the coke can in the upper right. If i try to crop out the can, I lose the mouse cord. The can does give a nice shadow. Nice to see some sun this winter.

Computers are great, tablet computers are good too, but sometimes a pad of paper is the best way to collect your information.
Taking notes like this while walking around the buildings is quick and easy. Neat invention, paper and pen. No pencil. Don't like pencils, the sound of pencil rubbing on paper hurts my teeth.
